If you have any questions about your Managed Windows Service (MWS) password or username please contact the University Computing Services Helpdesk - they have access to the MWS registration system and can answer enquiries about this.

If you send an email please use your Embanet address. Explain that you are a UoL online student and include details of the programme you are taking. Also tell them your full name, Laureate student number, date of birth and place of permanent address.

Please note that the Library does not have access to the MWS system so please don't contact the Online Librarian - go direct to the Helpdesk. This will ensure that your enquiry is dealt with as quickly as possible.

Resolved: Situation with recent Scopus records

Scopus has announced that the situation with recently-loaded Scopus records containing incorrect and incomplete information has been resolved. As part of their archiving initiative of loading pre-1996 articles to enrich Scopus content, a large number of articles of Elsevier journals were loaded erroneously into Scopus. A solution to resolve this issue was immediately installed. Since the end of last week, all incomplete records have been removed. Scopus has resumed the archive project to load all Elsevier journals back to Volume 1, Issue 1, reaching back to 1823. This will be finalised before July 2008.

This is a reminder that when you use the Online Library e-book collection, ebrary, you must first download the ebrary reader so you can view the full text of books. This is a simple, quick download - details of how to do this are here.

Use FAME for UK & Irish company information

Management students may find the Library database, FAME (Financial Analysis Made Easy), helpful for their research. FAME gives access to information on up to 1.8 million UK & Irish public & private companies. For the top 500,000 of these companies, up to 10 years information is available.

To access FAME, login to the University portal for online students & staff and select the search option 'Search for Library database titles' and type in FAME; or go to the Online Library home page and use the 'Search for Library database titles' search option. Add your MWS username and password when prompted to get access.

Try the new University portal for online students and staff

The University portal for online students and staff provides easy access to the Online Library resources and other useful features, including:

1. Single sign on to Online Library resources. Once logged in you should not have to login to EZproxy to access a Library e-resource again (if you have to login to access one of the very few resources that does not use EZproxy authentication you will be prompted to do so).
2. Online Library and Computing Services news feeds so you can keep up with the latest news.
3. Easy access to your University of Liverpool email and a useful forwarding facility if you would like to forward your University email to another email account.
4. Automatic reminders when your MWS password is going to expire (you are now required to change your MWS password every three months).

You login to the portal with your Managed Windows Service (MWS) username and password.
