31,000 e-books available from ebrary Academic Complete

The Library now provides access to a collection of over 31,000 e-books through ebrary Academic Complete. Ebrary includes books in a range of subject areas, including business & economics, computing and health.

You can search the full-text of all of the titles available to us on ebrary, or browse or search specific fields (e.g. title, author) to find books in your chosen area.

When you are reading an ebrary e-book, you can highlight any word and look it up in free online resources like dictionaries, thesauri and search engines. We will add the ability to search paid-for resources such as the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), Scopus and Web of Knowledge.

You can register to create a personal ebrary account which will allow you to create a personal bookshelf, and add highlights, annotations and bookmarks.

The interface appears to be quite intuitive, but please note that if you want to browse subject areas you will find computing subjects listed under:

Science

Mathematics

Mathematics

Instruments and machines

The subject areas that MBA staff and students will mainly be interested in are listed under Social Sciences and are more obvious. The Library will be feeding back to ebrary the need to list computing subjects in a more obvious place!

See ebrary's Getting started guide to get the most out of ebrary.

You use ebrary:

To read ebrary e-books you must first install ebrary Reader. To do this download ebrary Reader. It is available for a variety of web browsers on both Windows and Macintosh computers. You will only need to do this once (unless you use another PC to access ebrary).

Go to the Laureate Library management collections page, computing collections page or the public health collections page. Using the blue Library login box to the left of the page, login to EZproxy using your Managed Windows Service (MWS) username and password. Close the pop up box once logged in (this authenticates you as a University of Liverpool user and allows you access).

Click on the Connect link for ebrary (ebrary is the second collection listed on the management collections page; and the fourth collection listed on the computing collections page).

Note: To ensure full access please make sure your browser allows pop-ups from site.ebrary.com, and your cookies are enabled.
